The seven new Rechtskulturen Fellows 2012-2013 will introduce themselves and their research projects to the academic public:

  • Marta Arena, legal scholar and social anthropologist, research project on Tunisian family law and its effects on women's lives
  • Antonio De Lauri, legal anthropologist, research project on contemporary judicial practice in the tribunals of Kabul
  • Will Hanley, historian, research focus on institutional history of justice in Egypt between 1875 and 1950
  • Stefan B. Kirmse, historian and social anthropologist, research focus on rules and legal reform in late imperial Russia
  • Edyta Roszko, social anthropologist, research focus on legal and customary procedures in fisheries and cross-border fish trade in coastal frontier areas between Vietnam and China
  • Supriya Routh, legal scholar, research focus on conceptualizations of labour law to operate in diverse jurisdictions amongst heterogenous informal workers
  • Latif Tas, legal scholar and journalist, research focus on legal pluralism and alternative dispute resolution practices of Kurdish immigrants in the UK and Germany

The format of this inaugural event will be “speed networking” that allows for quick encounters and interesting discussions. A reception is to follow.
